Wilson's climate change views go global
THE international debate over the Environment Minister's controversial climate change scepticism has shown little sign of abating after one week.
East Antrim MP Sammy Wilson penned an article in last Friday's News Letter in which he expressed strong doubts that global warming is caused by man.

Thousands of people from around the world are still logging into the News Letter website to read his views and dozens have joined in debate.
Mr Wilson has placed himself at odds with mainstream environmentalists, both locally and internationally.
At home, his views have been condemned by a range of groups including the UUP, the Green Party, Sinn Fein, the Irish Congress of Trade Unions and Friends of the Earth.
But in today's News Letter two international scientists from the International Climate Change Coalition, Tom Harris and John McLean, defend the minister.

The coalition is an Ontario-based association of scientists, economists and energy and policy experts, which bills itself as "a credible alternative" to the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, which holds that climate change is indeed man-made.
Last weekend Mr Wilson was also commended by right-wing US talk show host Rush Limbaugh, who is listened to by 13.5 million people each week.
Disputing that man is responsible for climate change is popular viewpoint among right-wing activists in America, though this is not a view shared by the Republican Party presidential hopeful John McCain, which has placed him at odds with his vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin.
