Woman dies in house fire

A WOMAN believed to be in her 50s died today in a house blaze.

The alarm was raised at about 7.40am today when a neighbour walking his dog spotted smoke coming from the property in the quiet residential area of Quayside Close in Newry, Co Down.

Unconscious

Fire crews who arrived shortly afterwards found an unconscious woman, understood to be in her 50s, inside the house.

It is understood she was pronounced dead a short time later.
