Londonderry security alert ends

A security alert in the Ardmore area of Londonderry during which ammunition was discovered has ended.

A PSNI spokesperson said the Lisdillon Road outside Londonderry “has now fully reopened following the discovery of a quantity of ammunition in the area last night, Saturday 25 February”.

The PSNI spokesperson said: “Police were called to the area shortly after 5.30pm yesterday evening after a suspicious object was discovered in the area.

“Police attended and, following examination, a quantity of ammunition has now been removed for further examination.”
