Northern Ireland’s newest millionaire is one of four winners to share the £4.5million Lotto jackpot on April 26.
Identified only as ‘Miss S,’ the lucky lady scooped a life-changing £1,124,068 without ever touching a winning ticket.
The Co Down woman – who entered the draw online – received the good news in an email after her chosen numbers were automatically checked by national-lottery.co.uk.
Interactive winners have the opportunity to have their names released into the public domain or, like Miss S, remain anonymous.
There is also the choice to have some details released through partial publicity.
A recent survey of lottery winners found that many shunned champagne, turning to tea to celebrate.
However, most soon adapt to their new-found wealth with 82 per cent of major winners splashing out on a new home – many with luxurious features such as walk–in wardrobes, pool tables and hot tubs.
Winners are often keen to reduce household chores resulting in many employing cleaners and gardeners.
Congratulating Co Down’s new millionaire, a National Lottery spokesperson said: “Huge congratulations to Miss S for winning this fantastic prize without even touching a ticket. After a few simple clicks she has won the jackpot and become a millionaire.
“With many people leading busy lives playing online is becoming increasingly popular, it means you can make sure your lucky numbers are always in the draw and your ticket is always checked.”
Entering online at national-lottery.co.uk, players can buy tickets for all of the draw-based games including Lotto, EuroMillions and Thunderball. Once an account is set up, players can also enter a range of instant win games.
