Alliance Party leader Naomi Long has announced she is to contest the East Belfast seat in the forthcoming General Election.

Naomi Long was elected as MP for East Belfast in 2010 but lost her seat to the DUP’s Gavin Robinson in 2015.

Gavin Robinson’s victory in 2015 came amid a pact between the DUP and the UUP that meant the Ulster Unionists did not field a candidate.

Announcing her decision, Mrs Long said she was “delighted” to fight to retake the seat.
