Northern Ireland’s athletes returned from the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow on Monday night.

They travelled the short journey across the Irish Sea to Belfast onboard Stena Line, the official ferry partner to the team, after winning 12 medals at the Games.

It was the second most successful Commonwealth Games for Team NI in securing 12 medals, two of them gold. It bettered the 10 won at the last Games four years ago in Delhi, India, but was three fewer than the record set in 1986 at the Games in Edinburgh.

Some of the athletes will now focus on the Olympics in Rio in 2016, some with Great Britain and Northern Ireland and others with Ireland, while others will be planning for the next Commonwealth Games in the Gold Coast, Australia in 2018.
