Appeal after teenager injured in gang attack

A 19-year-old man sustained a cut to his neck and bruising to his body last night after a number of men burst into a house in Kinnard Street and assaulted him.

The incident happened shortly before 11.25pm.

One of the men involved in the assault is reported to have been carrying a suspected firearm.

A number of other men remained outside the house during the incident.

A PSNI spokesman said the men were all wearing hooded tops and had their faces covered. They made of in the direction of the New Lodge.

Meanwhile a woman, aged in her 40s, who was in the house at the time was not injured.

Detective Inspector Mark McHaffie is appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with any information that can assist with the investigation to contact Detectives in Musgrave Police Station on 101. Information can also be passed anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
