Bus drivers consider strike action after Stormont cuts

The public will pay the price for Stormont’s “party-political brinkmanship” as public transport workers go on strike over pay, a union has warned.

Unite said that Translink had withdrawn a pay offer “after threats to public transport funding” and that it was now balloting bus workers on strike action.

Davy McMurray from Unite said that a one percent pay offer had been withdrawn. He added: “Management explained the sudden change as being caused by the uncertainty coming out of Stormont and the game of brinkmanship that is seemingly being played out .”
