A PSNI spokesman said officers would be deployed “to support the French policing operation and help ensure a safe and trouble-free tournament”.

Fans are gearing up for a mass exodus with thousands of match tickets sold. Fan zones with big screens will be established near the beachfront in Nice, central Lyon and under the shadow of the Eiffel Tower in Paris. The PSNI will be part of a wider UK policing operation.
