The family of a woman whose death is now the subject of a murder investigation is said to have been left shocked and stunned.
Mairead McCallion died on Monday, after having been found injured at a house in her hometown of Omagh on Sunday morning.
The 36 year-old, who was understood to have been a trained accountant, had sustained head injuries.
She was taken to hospital from a house in Castleview Court.
Police announced on Monday evening that they had launched a murder investigation.
Mairead’s father and seven siblings - her mother died some years back - are understood to be devastated by the tragedy.
SDLP Councillor Josephine Deehan, who knew Mairead, said she was a kind and caring woman.
“I think everyone has just been left shocked by what has happened,” said Ms Deehan.
“The details are unclear and we await further information from the police but at the minute Mairead’s family are most concerned about getting her remains home so they can begin to arrange a funeral.”
Sinn Fein councillor Sorcha McAnespy said the thoughts and prayers of the whole community are with Ms McCallion’s family at this time.
