Funeral service for Newcastle carbon monoxide victim

The funeral of a man who died as a result of a suspected carbon monoxide poisoning in Newcastle has taken place in the Co Down town.

William (Will) Stockdale, 60, died following the incident at his Castlewellan Road home on Friday night.

A funeral service for the father-of-two was held at his home with a committal afterwards in Drumee cemetery, Newcastle.

The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service said two paramedics were among five people taken to hospital for treatment.

The ambulance crew members began to feel unwell and fire officers subsequently found high levels of the deadly carbon monoxide gas at the scene.

Tuesday’s funeral service was conducted by Rev Canon Ian Ellis of St John’s Church in Newcastle.
