Homes evacuated after hoax bomb alert



Homes were evacuated in Carrickfergus after an overnight bomb alert.

It was later declared a hoax.

The alert began around 1.45am today in Broadlands Gardens when a suspicious object was found at the rear of a house.

Two homes were evacuated and Army bomb disposal officers were called to examine the object.

The alert ended at 6.45am.

Police have appealed to anyone who saw anything suspicious in the Broadlands Gardens area at the time of the incident to contact them.
