Inquest role for High Court judge

A High Court judge is to take up a new role in Northern Ireland's coroner's courts.

Adrian Colton sat for photographs on Monday to mark the new post.

It comes after news emerged last week that he was to become the presiding coroner.

He replaces Lord Justice Weir, who had himself temporarily stepped in when the region’s most senior coroner (John Leckie) retired last year, making a final plea for reform to the “antiquated” inquest system.
