Tributes have been paid to leading catholic unionist and former army officer Sir John Gorman.
He was elected an MLA for the new Assembly in 1998 and was chairman of the Northern Ireland Forum from 1996-8.
UUP MLA Danny Kennedy said he was “greatly saddened” by Sir John’s death.
“He had a distinguished WWII record and was a distinguished public servant, having served as chair of the Northern Ireland Housing Executive. He had a distinguished record of service to the nation and Northern Ireland in particular.
“Obviously he came from a Catholic background but he was an unashamed unionist and was admired by many.”
