Man in hospital with serious head injuries after assault

Police officers on patrol in the early hours of last Thursday (June 23) were alerted to a disturbance in the Gordon Street area at around 2am.

Upon arrival at the scene officers found an 18-year-old man lying unconscious on the ground.

The man was taken to hospital where he remains, receiving treatment for serious head injuries.

Detective Constable Erika Mooney said: “Large crowds were in the area at the time of this incident and we are appealing to anyone who witnessed the assault to contact detectives at Musgrave on 101 quoting reference 91 23/06/16. Alternatively information can be given anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
