The image of a ‘Pear Picking Porky’ was posted on Twitter by Jeremy McWilliams as he made his way to the Dungannon man’s bedside in the Royal Victoria Hospital.

McWilliams said he was acting on “specific orders” from his friend in the intensive care unit and added the hashtag “good day”.

Farquhar was initially admitted to the ICU at the Royal after a crash during the Supertwins race at the North West 200 on May 12.

The 40-year-old appeared to be on the mend last week, but on Sunday a spokesman for the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust said Farquhar had “returned to ICU and he is seriously ill”.

On Wednesday evening, a Trust spokesman said Farquhar remains in intensive care and his condition is still regarded as “serious”.

Writing in the News Letter earlier this week, motorcycling correspondent Kyle White described Farquhar’s crash as one of the “dark clouds” that overshadowed this year’s race meeting.

Malachi Mitchell-Thomas, 20, was killed at the North West 200 on Saturday May 14, after losing control of his Burrows Engineering Kawasaki.
