Motorcyclist dies after road collision

A 49-year-old motorcyclist has died after his bike was involved in a crash with a car in Carrickfergus, Co Antrim, on Monday night.

The man who died has been named by police as Mark McClements from the Whitehead area.

Police would ask anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who has any information to contact Police on the non emergency number 101.

There has been 37 deaths on Ulster’s road this year.

On July 1 2013, there had been 27 road deaths.

Meanwhile this morning there was a serious collision involving two cars in Co Londonderry.

The crash happened on the Magherafelt Road in Moneymore.

A PSNI spokesman said: “The road is closed between its junctions with the Gortagilly Road and Carmean Road. Motorists are advised to expect delays in this area.”
