Orange Order suspends rioter

The barrister of a 25-year-old Belfast man told the city’s Crown Court yesterday that he has been suspended from the Orange Order after becoming embroiled in a riot.

David John Nixon, from Cosgrove Heights, was spared jail and placed on three years probation after it emerged he is a full-time carer for his mother.

The court heard he was present when loyalists and nationalists clashed at Carlisle Circus in the city on September 2, 2012.
