Army experts have recovered a viable explosive device in west Belfast following a security operation.
The alert began shortly before 8am on Friday morning when a number of homes in the Blacks Road area were evacuated.
ATO examined what is thought to have been an under car booby trap type device and it has been recovered for forensic examination.
All evacuated residents were able to return to their homes around 2pm.
Police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
