A mainly warm and bright weekend is expected to follow a week of almost unbroken sunshine in many areas.

Temperatures have reached 23C in recent days and been consistently in the low 20s as the prolonged period of high pressure continues.

There was some overnight patchy light rain last night, and hill fog over the Mournes and Sperrins, as temperatures dipped as low as 6C, however, early morning cloud should give way to brighter spells in the afternoon.

There will be a risk of some isolated, showery rain throughout Saturday, but it will be generally warm in the sunshine with only light winds.

The maximum temperature should be around 22C. Sunday will be similar to Saturday with the best of the sunshine in the afternoon.

Most UK regions will enjoy a largely dry weekend after a generally cloudy start on both days. It will gradually brighten up from the north-east, but isolated thundery showers are likely to affect southern and western areas of Great Britain.

Like Northern Ireland, the rest of the UK is likely to be mainly dry and warm again on Monday before things take a downturn on Tuesday with more persistent showers forecast.
