TV documentary on Docklands bomb events

Twenty years after the IRA bombed London's Docklands killing two people and injuring several more, a BBC documentary will examine the extraordinary events around the £100 million blast.

‘The Docklands Bomb; Executing Peace’ tells the story of the attack that shattered the terrorist ceasefire at a time when Northern Ireland was still buzzing from the visit of US president Bill Clinton and peace was in the air.

The documentary, being shown on BBC One NI at 9pm on Monday (Feb 8), includes an interview with John Grieve, former head of the Metropolitan Police anti-terrorist unit.

Director Trevor Birney of Fine Point Films said the Docklands atrocity came at “an extraordinary period of time” in our history.
