Police have named the female pedestrian who died after a road accident involving a lorry in Enniskillen as 76-year-old Bridget Kelly.
It was the third road fatality involving an elderly woman this week.
A man who was arrested in connection with Ms Kelly’s death was released on bail yesterday morning pending further inquiries. The incident occurred on the Tempo Road at 5pm on Wednesday.
SDLP council candidate for the area Patricia Rogers said her thoughts were with Ms Kelly’s family circle.
“This is a tragic incident and I am sure this has left a family grieving,” she said.
Ms Rogers said the authorities should consider speed ramps within the town limits – but that she was aware it was a controversial issue “as residents may complain about how noisy they are”.
On Tuesday, Bridget Mullin from Sixmilecross and Hester Brown from Rathfriland, both in their eighties, died in separate accidents.
Mrs Mullin was a passenger in one of two cars that collided while Miss Brown died after her car collided with a bin lorry.
Linda Robinson, Age NI chief executive, yesterday appealed for pensioners to take care: “Always be aware of your surroundings, avoid distractions and never take unnecessary risks.”
