With four sell-out shows in the Odyssey Arena in Belfast, the last one tonight, fans also queued outside the popstars hotel - The Culloden in Cultra - in a bid to catch a glimpse of the boys.
Before their arrival it was rumoured that the pop sensations who are used to trying to escape the crowds had booked rooms at a number of Belfast’s finest hotels to try to outfox fans.
The audience, almost exclusively female, swooned in awe when Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson came onstage in the Odyssey.
The young men had arrived in Belfast on Wednesday night fresh from their Dublin concert. Security was reportedly tight around the lads who were taken everywhere by a team of minders.
The group, which formed with the help of the X Factor, have just seen their debut album ‘Up All Night’ go to number one in 15 countries around the world.
Last year One Direction were BRIT Award winners of Best Single.
They have more than five million Facebook fans and three million followers on Twitter.
