An Orange hall in Co Down is to undergo a major refurbishment following the announcement of a government grant.

Seventeen groups meet in Dromore Orange Hall and the renovations will help deliver a programme of activities for the local community. It is one of the first capital projects to be funded through the Social Investment Fund which was announced by the Executive earlier this month.

Ronnie Murdock of the hall’s committee said: “There is a well documented lack of community development capacity within the Protestant community in Northern Ireland.”
