Picture gallery: Derry-Londonderry Legacy concert

Around 5000 people saw Derry~Londonderry’s 2014 Music City celebrations kick off with a free outdoor event to acknowledge the success of the city’s year as UK City of Culture in 2013 with a free legacy concert and the switch on of a spectacular visual Global Rainbow art installation.

Those who attended the “Hear the City Sing” concert, enjoyed outstanding performances from the Clameens, Music Promise Junior Choir, soloist Erica Curran, Little Bear and a solo performance by Shane Filan, lead singer of Westlife.

Host for the evening, Edith Bowman from BBC Radio 1 received a Legenderry belated birthday greeting from the audience who were delighted to join in with Little Bear’s rendition of the happy birthday song.

Mayor Councillor Martin Reilly said the event was a huge success and thanked everyone for coming along to be part of the celebrations.

He said 2014 promised to be another hugely successful year for the city.
