Labour’s Shadow Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, Vernon Coaker MP, spoke to an audience of 350 DUP members and invited guests at the party’s annual conference dinner on Friday.
He said:“Westminster still matters to Northern Ireland, and Northern Ireland must matter at Westminster.
“I’m worried that sometimes politicians in Great Britain lose focus and neglect their responsibilities to the people of Northern Ireland.
“The DUP takes Westminster seriously, and makes an important contribution at a UK level.
“I’ll keep working with Peter and Nigel to keep Northern Ireland high up the agenda at Westminster.”
