The Northern Ireland Bill – planned by Owen Paterson to bring Northern Ireland more into line with the rest of the UK in several areas – will be unveiled in the coming weeks, but will not contain some of the bolder initiatives some campaigners had hoped for.

There will be no mention in the legislation of a Government bid to create the structures for a Stormont Opposition and no end to the secrecy surrounding donations to political parties in Northern Ireland.
