PSNI officer struck by car in Londonderry


Police are appealing for information after an officer was struck by a car in Londonderry.

A PSNI spokesman said: “At about 12.20am today (Sunday 2nd) Gardai at Buncrana reported the theft of a northern registration Toyota Celica car in Bridgened.

“Shortly before 4am, the car was spotted by police at Caw Hill Park in Derry.

“The car was reversed into a police car, causing damage to the front grille. When officers approached, the car was driven at them and it drove over an officer’s foot.”

The spokesman said the officer “was not injured”.

The Toyota then drove off towards Limavady Road.

Anyone with information is asked to call 0845 600 8000 and ask for police at Strand Road.
