Puzzled by Michaela inquiry decision

REPORTS that a team of investigators from the PSNI are expected to travel to Mauritius within weeks in a bid to help catch Michaela McAreavey’s killer are somewhat bizarre to say the least.

The detection rate for murders committed in Northern Ireland over many years is abysmal and it calls into question the fact that police, who are unable to detect serious crime on a local level, would be of any whatsoever in a foreign country.

We are constantly being told that the PSNI are currently under extreme pressure and are being stretched to the limit, so it is difficult to justify taking officers to a foreign country, when day and daily the crime rate is rising at home.
