A cannabis factory with a potential value of more than £100,000 has been shut down, police have said.
The factory was discovered on Monday in a house in Templemore Avenue and the cannabis plants inside are thought to have been worth thousands of pounds.
Area Commander Chief Inspector Mark McEwan said his officers disconnected electricity supply to the house which had been providing heat and light for the plants.
CI McEwan said the factory posed a danger to local people.
“In similar circumstances cannabis factories have caught fire and our officers’ primary concern was making sure the property and the occupants of any others near it were kept safe from the danger of fire.
“This find illustrates local police officers’ determination to make things safer for the residents of east Belfast by acting quickly on any information received about crime in the area.”
