Police are appealing for information after an arson attack in Banbridge on Tuesday night.

Sometime between 11.30pm and 12.20am a blue Ford Focus was set alight in Hillhead Drive in the town.

Detective Chief Inspector Stephen Wright said: “This is one of a series of arson attacks in Banbridge that we are currently investigating and we have a very specific appeal.

“We would like to speak to a man who was in the HIllside Park/Cline Road area around the time of this incident. He is described as being around 28-years-old, white skinned, approximately 5ft 10ins tall with short dark hair, facial stubble and a tattoo containing two initials on the right side of his neck below his ear.

“He was wearing a dark coloured top, grey coloured tracksuit bottoms which appeared dirty and flat, white trainers. He also spoke with a local accent.

“I believe this man may have information in relation to the arson and would like him, or anyone who can assist us, to contact us at CID in Mahon Road on the 101 non-emergency number.”

“If you prefer to provide information without giving your details you can contact the independent crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
