Drugs with an estimated street value of £200,000 have been seized by police in Ballymena.

Drugs with an estimated street value of £200,000 have been seized by police in Ballymena.

The cannabis plants were discovered during a search in the Duke Street area of the town on Wednesday morning.

PSNI Area Commander Chief Inspector Stephen McCauley said: “Cannabis cultivation equipment and other associated paraphernalia have also been seized by police.”

He added: “Taking these drugs off the streets provides public reassurance of police tackling drugs in Ballymena. Drugs destroy lives and are a scourge on society.

“The information received by officers has played an important role in this seizure. Officers will continue to tackle the issue of drugs and would appeal to all members of the community to report any suspicious activity to police on the non-emergency number 101.”
