Bid to save animal trapped in slurry tank

MEMBERS of the NI Fire and Rescue service have been called to a farm in Co Tyrone to rescue an animal trapped in a slurry pit.

It is understood the bullock was discovered in the tank at the farm near Dungannon on Saturday afternoon.

There are no reports of any human casualties at this stage.

It comes in the wake of series of incidents involving slurry tanks and other farm accidents which have claimed the lives of 42 people since 2007.

Earlier this month, the Health and Safety Executive revealed they intend to visit more than 1,000 farms in the next five months, in an effort to raise safety awareness.
