Child struck by lorry in east Belfast.

A child has been struck by a lorry on the Upper Newtownards Road.

The road, in east Belfast, was closed in both directions after the incident, which was reported to the Ambulance Service at 8.42am.

An ambulance was on the scene at 8.45am, and the girl – believed to be aged between eight and 11 – was taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital.

She was said to be in a stable condition.

It is understood she had been on a bicycle at the time.
