Prince George will be christened next Wednesday afternoon in front of close family members and friends of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
William and Kate’s baby son will be baptised by the Archbishop of Canterbury in the little known Chapel Royal at St James’s Palace, with the ceremony starting at 3pm.
In a statement, Kensington Palace said: “The christening of Prince George will take place on Wednesday, 23rd October at the Chapel Royal, St James’s Palace.
“Prince George will be baptised by the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Reverend Justin Welby.”
The christening will take place just over three months since George was born. The guest list has not been released but Kensington Palace has said in the past that “close members of both families” will attend. Following the christening a historic picture will be released showing the Queen with three future monarchs – Charles, William and George.
