A rally against racism took place in Belfast city centre on Saturday.

The demonstration was organised by the Irish Congress of Trade Unions, Amnesty International and the Northern Ireland Council for Ethnic Minorities. They called for “action, not words” from politicians, after weeks of bitter argument about the issue.

“Everyone has a right to live free from fear and discrimination in Northern Ireland, yet it is clear that these rights are not being enjoyed by many members of our minority ethnic communities,” a spokesman said.
