For the past two days there were media reports that the Dromore community was shocked by the police investigations into the suspicious deaths of three local women.
However since police announced that they were questioning a man over the deaths and made a fresh appeal for information, many people in the town seemed unsurprised by the probe.
Some said that “the dogs on the streets” harboured suspicions about the deaths and “a lot of people wondered how long it would take for police to catch up on these deaths” as one man put it. So media reports that Dromore has been shocked by the probe have caused anger in some quarters.
As one long term resident put it to the News Letter: “Why are they saying we are shocked? What a statement to come out with, that the town is shocked. We have all had suspicions about these deaths for years.
“I have been speaking to many people and they are all just so angry to hear people suggest that Dromore is shocked by these investigations.”
