North Belfast MLA William Humphrey led a DUP delegation on Thursday to meet police about the recent dissident republican parade through Belfast city centre and masked men at the funeral of former IRA member Tony Catney, with shots also having been fired in his honour.

Mr Humphrey said DUP members witnessed the parade in Belfast city centre on August 10 where chanting of IRA slogans and other Parades Commission breaches took place, backed up by online video evidence.

Chief Inspector Bobby Singleton said the meeting was about the recent parade and the funeral, “however the discussion primarily addressed the broader issues of policing and community safety across north and west Belfast”.
