DUP councillor Ruth Patterson will next week make her first court appearance since being charged over a message posted on the internet.
The Belfast councillor was arrested two weeks ago after it emerged that she had responded to a fictitious report of a massacre of senior Sinn Fein figures at last week’s controversial Castlederg IRA parade.
In response to that, Mrs Patterson wrote that the attackers “would have done a great service to Northern Ireland ... getting rid of [the Sinn Fein figures]”.
She later apologised for the comments. The 57-year-old is to appear in Belfast Magistrates Court on Thursday.
