The DUP has slammed an IRA parade in Dunloy at the weekend, saying it was a “glorification of terrorism” which “only serves to legitimise the actions of dissidents”.

The event – organised by Sinn Fein – took place on Sunday in memory of two IRA men who died when they tried to ambush an Army unit in 1984. There have been claims there were significant paramilitary trappings at the weekend parade.

Yesterday, DUP MLA Mervyn Storey said the parade’s only purpose was to “glorify those who deliberately set out to break the law and engage in illegal and terrorist activity”.
