The Ravenhill Road is to be shut for emergency work

The Ravenhill Road in Belfast looks set to be closed for an indefinite period.

It comes after NI Water contractors discovered “a significant void” in the area which needs to be filled.

It said: “Due to the unforeseen nature of the problem the extent of the work required to repair the road fully is not yet clear and as such the longevity of this closure has not been established.”

TrafficwatchNI.com last night stated that “traffic will be diverted onto the Ormeau Road at the Rosetta roundabout (citybound) and the Ormeau Embankment (countrybound) with the Ravenhill Road fully closed between Ravenhill Park and South Parade”.
