The DUP has hit out at what it says are moves by the European Commission to standardise rules around the flushing of toilets.
The party said in a statement that plans are part of an “Ecolabel”, aimed at reducing water use.
DUP MEP Diane Dodds said the proposals were “ludicrous”.
A statement from her said: “Most people, looking at this latest diktat from Brussels, will believe that the European Commission has many bigger issues to be dealing with rather than getting bogged down in how toilets are flushed across 28 member states.”
She added that “it is incredible that for three years taxpayers’ money has been squandered in Brussels to roll out these latest rules”.
