A man and a woman were held captive by a number of males in Warrenpoint while a 57-year-old woman was ordered to take items from a jewellery shop.

The men forced their way into the house on the Smalls Road around 8.30pm on Sunday and held a 53-year-old male and a 20-year-old female during the tiger kidnapping.

The 57-year-old woman was send to the premises in Warrenpoint under duress and instructed to return with several items.

The three victims were then taken to a field in Mayobridge and abandoned before the gang made off in an unknown vehicle.

All three members of the same family have been left badly shaken and distressed by their ordeal but otherwise unhurt.

Police are appealing for anyone who noticed anyone acting suspiciously in the Warrenpoint/Burren and Mayobridge area, including the suspicious movement of vehicles, between 7.30pm and 10pm on Sunday to contact Ardmore police on 0845 600 8000 or the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
