Five Portuguese men appeared in court in Omagh yesterday accused of supplying heroin.
They were arrested in Cookstown on Monday. Bail was refused and the men are expected to appear at Dungannon Magistrates’ Court via video link on September 4.
UUP Mid-Ulster MLA Sandra Overend praised the PSNI over the operation.
“I would like to commend the police in Cookstown for their work in tackling the scourge of drugs in the Mid-Ulster area,” she said.
“Like every parent, I want to see a society in which our young people can grow up safe from drug dealers and the poison which they sell.
“It is essential that the police receive the support of the entire community.”
