Four men have been arrested over a suspicious object which sparked traffic chaos on the M1 motorway on Monday morning.
The M1 had been closed in both directions in the early hours of Monday morning, causing problems for motorists during the morning rush hour, but has since reopened.
Army Technical Officers examined the object and declared it to be an elaborate hoax.
The men, two aged 26, one aged 25 and another aged 53, were stopped in a car on the Andersonstown Road on Monday and have been taken to the Serious Crime Suite at Antrim police station for questioning
Police are currently searching a number of properties in west Belfast as part of the ongoing investigation.
All roads have since reopened.
