Victims campaigner Willie Frazer has said he “had to get off the Shankill Road because I was embarrassed by the amount of people asking for me to get my picture taken with them”.
The 53-year-old said he stopped on the road on his way home from the UVF centenary re-enactment parade on Saturday.
“I stopped on the Shankill on the way back from the parade, but with the dozens of people coming over to ask to have their photograph taken with me, I decided to go home,” he said.
“It became embarrassing and I know people mean well. But this is not what I am about.
“I don’t want this sort of attention.
“But what it did show me is how bad our leadership is in this country that people come to the likes of me.”
