THE Funeral has taken place of Una Finnegan, the Northern Ireland woman who was killed along with three other climbers in Scotland.

The 25-year-old doctor had been climbing with friends at Glencoe last Saturday (January 19) when they were swept away by an avalanche.

The three other victims of the accident were 24-year-old Christopher Bell, Tom Chesters (28) and Rachel Majumdar (29). One other woman was badly injured in the accident. A sixth member of the group, a man, escaped serious injury.

Many tributes were paid to Ms. Finnegan who was from Coleraine.

In a statement, her family said: “Una was a wonderful, outgoing and loving person. We are devastated by her death, but comforted by the knowledge that she was doing what she loved most, climbing with good friends in the hills.”

The Funeral took place in her home town. The Funeral Mass was held in the town’s St. Malachy’s Church. For full details of the Funeral arrangements, click here.

Donations in lieu of flowers have been requested for The Karen Hilltribes Trust or Mountain Rescue Scotland.
