Further flag protests held

There was some disruption in Belfast on Saturday amid further flag protests.

Two offslips of the M3 at Middlepath Street and Bridgend were closed for a time on Saturday afternoon due to protests.

Motorists and pedestrians also experienced disruption due to a protest at the city hall earlier in the day.

Police put diversions in place in the area.

Earlier this week the Ulster People’s Forum chairman Jamie Bryson issued a statement encouraging people to engage in ‘white-line’ protests rather than blocking roads.

However his fellow Forum member Willie Frazer disagreed with this policy, saying protestors had a right to peaceful protests, even if that meant blocking roads.
