A GALA dinner to welcome home Irish Guards who have returned from Afghanistan will be held in Belfast on Friday evening.
The event, which will start at the Stormont Hotel at 7.30pm, has been organised by Friends of the Irish Guards.
During the evening an audio visual presentation about the regiment’s tour in Afghanistan will be shown along with input from Guardsmen who served in the war-torn country.
Entertainment on the evening at the hotel will be provided by the Regimental Pipes and Drums.
Sadly, the tour saw three Guardsmen killed and several suffering life-changing injuries.
Throughout the evening there will be opportunities to support the Regiment Benevolent Appeal.
Raymond McMichael, a spokesperson for Friends of the Irish Guards, said the gala dinner was an important way to show their appreciation and support.
“The tour may be over, but the needs of the families bereaved and those of the injured must be met.
“It is important that the Guardsmen continue to receive our thanks and support in a tangible way,” added Mr McMichael.
Tickets for the event cost £40 per person and can be ordered from Sylvia McWilliams on 07757345284. The dress code is lounge suits and cocktail dress.
