GALLERY: Bikers escort for tragic racer

HUNDREDS of motorcycling fans from across Northern Ireland have turned out to escort home the funeral cortege of Trevor Ferguson who was killed last week.

The uncle of Ryan Farquhar, Mr Ferguson who was from Castlecaulfield in Co Tyrone, died after a crash in the Supertwin race at the Manx Grand Prix on the Isle of Man.

Farquhar and fellow racer John Burrows led the escort from Belfast on Wednesday morning.

On Tuesday, Ryan Farquhar said: “It will be a show of respect for Trevor to have as many bikers as possible come along and join in to bring his body home.

“Trevor will probably be looking down on us and wondering what all the fuss is about.”

Details of the arrangements for Mr Ferguson’s funeral are yet to be finalised.

Next weekend, Farquhar is planning to participate in a special parade lap at the prestigious Gold Cup race meeting at Scarborough in North Yorkshire to bid farewell to his loyal fans and sponsors and honour the memory of Mr Ferguson.
